Dress for your shape
I’ve been seeing so many people out there that just simply don’t seem to know how to dress to flatter their shapes and they are either hiding them under shapeless clothes or showing off way too much flesh. There are 4 main shape categories and you will all fit into 1. All the guidelines here can be used to dress you no matter what size you are.
The Pear
The largest area for a Pear shape is your hips and you don’t want to draw extra attention to this, so to dress the best, you want to look for tops that draw the eye up, some nice designs or beads around the neckline, or small shoulder pads. Boot leg pants are good as they even out the shape, empire line tops and dresses, and loose jackets that finish below your hips. These will all draw attention away from your shapes problem area- hips and even out your body, dressing you in a sexier and sleeker look!
The Apple The largest area for an Apple Shape is your stomach. Don’t despair this is not so scary as you think it is. To dress you follow these- Rule no 1 nothing skin tight or that shows your midriff. To hide your stomach you need to wear empire line tops and dresses, straight loose leg pants to even out your top half and straight patterned skirts. Use belts to give you a waist and a V neckline to help balance your body shape. Also, dress in solid dark colours, they work well to give you a great shape, try a full circle skirt it’s a classic way to slim you midsection and try to always wear a heel.
The Hourglass This is a figure that can be deceptively hard to flatter, you don’t want to accentuate the top too much and you don’t want to accentuate the bottom too much either. So go for anything that accentuates your waist, belts are great, but also try high waisted clothes that hug your curves. Find the favourite part of your body and dress to accentuate it. It could be your chest, so wear a nice low cut round neck top, if it’s your legs then wear a skirt that finishes mid thigh. Yours is a great figure but just make sure you balance your top with your bottoms and never wear anything that accentuates your hips. Stay away from pockets, flaps, buckles or any embellishments on the hips. Dress your sexy shape.
The Banana This is a straight up and down figure with very little curve. The key to making this body shape work is to give is the look of curves. So wear A-line skirts and dresses, stay away from lots of patterns they can accentuate the shape of your body. Look for skirts, pants and dresses that have pockets and flaps and embellishments at your hip area, look for skirts and dresses that flare a little at your hip it will give the illusion of curves. Push Up bras are your best friend so find some comfortable ones and use them. Dress confidently with these rules and you’ll feel great.
