Hot Trends for Summer 2010!

Summer has finally arrived. It’s time to put away those sweaters and start showing off sexy legs and shoulders in shorts, miniskirts, halters and tanks. Oh, and sandals. So what’s hot this season? First off, zippers continue to be hot properties, especially exposed ones on shirts, blouses and dresses. They’re even showing up on shoes. For example, Pour La Victoire makes a very funky sandal that’s flat and funky – snakeskin with zippers going all around the sandal, up to its rose on top. It comes in light blue, light pink or ecru and is just fantastic. You can get a knock off of it at Piperlime by Kelsi Dagger that comes in purple or black. And it’s already on sale. As for clothes, you’ll find exposed zippers on tops, tanks, dresses and more. Another hot trend this summer is the Ikat print. Though it’s been around for ages, this year it’s finally getting the recognition it deserves. And python print is also hot. Maria Bianca Nero makes a wonderful strapless, curve hugging one that’s simply to die for. Saucy, sexy and showy, you’ll really make a statement with this dress. The maxi dress is also still hot. Imagine one in an Ikat print or just a solid color and you’ll have an amazing addition to your wardrobe. Look for ones with halter tops to best accentuate your bust line. One that’s terrific is Susanna Monaco’s halter maxi that comes in a multitude of colors and hits your ankles so you don’t have to worry about it dragging on the ground. And it’s made from Monaco’s famous supplex fabric that can be washed and dried with no problem. Ombre is also hot for summer, especially on purses and shoes. It’s also showing up on shirts and dresses and the slow change of color from one shade to the next is really beautiful. Remember jelly shoes from the ‘80s? Well, they’re back with a passion. Not sure why because they make your feet sweat so much, but even Burberry has made an affordable flip flop with plastic. Pinstripes are also back. They give you a long, lean appearance and are perfect for the office. Find them in suits and even more casual wear. Feel slimmer as the vertical lines slim you down. The final trend that’s worth noting is that lower heels are more in style than those ankle-breaking stilettos to which we’ve become familiar. The kitten heel is perfect, especially if you are on your feet all day. Try a pair out and your feet will be totally happy! Of course, layering is also still a great way to change up outfits. Free People is known for its layering pieces. Try a bralet under a low cut tank and you’ll be super sexy without much effort. Mix up patterns. Plaids and flowers do go together. In all, it seems as though not much has changed since last summer, which is good news for your closet and your wallet!

Ladies: Know your body type!

Dress for your shape
I’ve been seeing so many people out there that just simply don’t seem to know how to dress to flatter their shapes and they are either hiding them under shapeless clothes or showing off way too much flesh. There are 4 main shape categories and you will all fit into 1. All the guidelines here can be used to dress you no matter what size you are.
The Pear
The largest area for a Pear shape is your hips and you don’t want to draw extra attention to this, so to dress the best, you want to look for tops that draw the eye up, some nice designs or beads around the neckline, or small shoulder pads. Boot leg pants are good as they even out the shape, empire line tops and dresses, and loose jackets that finish below your hips. These will all draw attention away from your shapes problem area- hips and even out your body, dressing you in a sexier and sleeker look!
The Apple The largest area for an Apple Shape is your stomach. Don’t despair this is not so scary as you think it is. To dress you follow these- Rule no 1 nothing skin tight or that shows your midriff. To hide your stomach you need to wear empire line tops and dresses, straight loose leg pants to even out your top half and straight patterned skirts. Use belts to give you a waist and a V neckline to help balance your body shape. Also, dress in solid dark colours, they work well to give you a great shape, try a full circle skirt it’s a classic way to slim you midsection and try to always wear a heel.
The Hourglass This is a figure that can be deceptively hard to flatter, you don’t want to accentuate the top too much and you don’t want to accentuate the bottom too much either. So go for anything that accentuates your waist, belts are great, but also try high waisted clothes that hug your curves. Find the favourite part of your body and dress to accentuate it. It could be your chest, so wear a nice low cut round neck top, if it’s your legs then wear a skirt that finishes mid thigh. Yours is a great figure but just make sure you balance your top with your bottoms and never wear anything that accentuates your hips. Stay away from pockets, flaps, buckles or any embellishments on the hips. Dress your sexy shape.
The Banana This is a straight up and down figure with very little curve. The key to making this body shape work is to give is the look of curves. So wear A-line skirts and dresses, stay away from lots of patterns they can accentuate the shape of your body. Look for skirts, pants and dresses that have pockets and flaps and embellishments at your hip area, look for skirts and dresses that flare a little at your hip it will give the illusion of curves. Push Up bras are your best friend so find some comfortable ones and use them. Dress confidently with these rules and you’ll feel great. Sweet Bliss

The strangest thing about reality is that it’s happening before our eyes. Every second of forever, flashing by faster and faster by the second.

The sweet bliss of forgetting a past that you try to forget is close to impossible. In comparison to dedicating a energy force to compress the future. Setting yourself to never let it happen again.

Developing a figment of imagination is the reality. Living in a dream world where the inevitable is sure to happen.

Sweet Bliss

It personifies who you are and what you want to become. It is the dreams reality that you only wish would come true. It is what you want it to be. Happiness, friendship, love and all the other great feelings in the world.

Until one day it stops, and what you thought was true becomes a lie. Your sweet bliss is empowered by you, your treasure within..The real you.

Sweet Bliss

My Trashion Fashion Show!

Trashion Fashion projects can be easy, if you think of the different objects you encounter everyday! Plastic bags, paper bags, aluminum can tabs, juice pouches, newspaper, and just about anything else can be turned into haute couture! Let Trashion Fashion be your passion! You can get ideas from the materials I used in my local Trashion Fashion Show!

"I know the buzz has been around for a while. Spring 2010 was suppose to be the start of my own clothing line."

It was to be called BAHATI & company. Things happened out of my power and I was not able to finish the show. So I got this great idea to use my creativity to my advantage and create a scene of clothes using nothing but trash and recycled materials. I did this scene of behalf of the United Black Student Association here at The University of Cincinnati. The show was a hit. It took me a whole quarter to make it happen. It took a lot of blood sweat, and tears to make it come to life.

Trashion Fashion Shows are very popular for Earth Day activities. Join your local gallery, or group who hosts trashion fashion! This is a project that anyone can do with just a little inspiration and imagination. Trashion Fashion makes everyone realize the materials they use everyday can be recycled or re-used! Trashion Fashion Projects are a great activity for anyone!

Metro Sexual or Just Fashionable?

Fashion is a self-expression, sometimes furnished by brand names, and expensive labels. A world full of colorful and sometimes eccentric people not understood by others. A world idealized for women. But in recent years men have been getting there passports ready for the trip to the world of fashion. Years ago, the words Man and high fashion in the same sentence give the stereotype of metro sexuality or even homosexuality. But times have changed indeed. It is not unusual for a male to know the latest trends or to use the term Gabardine fabric or boot cut jeans when shopping in a store. But what puts this stigma on men to not take interest in fashion? And what’s wrong with a man caring about the way they look. Brittnay Cummins, a student of the University of Cincinnati says that “its perfectly fine for a man to care about the way they look, just as long as they don’t take it to far and tell me how to dress, then it’s a problem” In today’s generation there are so many male celebrities who challenge fashion and anticipate on starting trends. Such celebrities like Kanye West, T.I, Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake and Chris Brown set new limits to fashion to males. Bright colors like atomic pink, canary yellow, and purple are okay to wear now. With the spring season quickly approaching, vivid color and outlandish patterns for men might actually supersede women’s fashion this season. If you walk into your local mall and look in the display windows of major department stores, you can see the detail and precision in the men’s designs.

The days of simple black business suits and single colored ties are only a figment of today’s imagination. Skinny ties made there return giving a vintage look from the 1960’s. Retro plaid shirts, kool-aid colored kicks, and skinny jeans are the latest trends for guys. Tailored and fitted clothes are now cool. In 2009 it’s weird to see baggy and over sized clothing, but 10 years ago it would have been the opposite. In music videos and television shows we seen this alteration happening before our eyes. It could be safe to call this generation the Express® generation, a generation that cares about quality, detail, fit, and price surprisingly among men.

Michael Davis of Columbus, Ohio considers himself a masculine male that is not afraid to get dirty. He doesn’t really care about the clothes he has on, but he spent $450 on a Ralph Lauren sweater and tie set and didn’t completely regret it. Davis explained that his job title requires him to wear labels such as Ralph Lauren, rather than an unknown brand. “Expensive clothes are an investment, they last longer,” He then explains how brands like Ralph Lauren, come with an image that is often appealing to clients willing to invest in his company. With current economy standings not everyone has the luxury of spending $450 on a sweater set. Consumers are making their money stretch. Likewise, stores like Forever 21®; known as an in-expensive clothing store for women, launched their men’s clothing store called Heritage 1981. This store is known for replicating designer clothes at an everyday discount price. That same $450 sweater would have a look alike for only $25 at the most. Guy’s today care about style and tailored attire but are also attracted to low prices.

Career advancement, popularity, and propaganda all have been factors appealing men to fashion and style. Designers are aware that the market for men’s clothing is steadily increasing and they are catering to these essentials. Fashion is no longer a feminine fetish, but now a world that guys are quickly becoming comfortable in. The future looks very bright, canary yellow and all.
